Dutch Chili Fest is the only Dutch festival entirely dedicated to the chili pepper. This versatile fruit vegetable sets you on fire, but sometimes tastes unexpectedly sweet. Our ode to this spicy pepper translates into a day full of spicy food and other types of entertainment.
Professionals and amateurs will offer their hotly peppery products at the market, there will be competitions to determine who can handle the largest serving of spiciness, we will have cutting edge music and, of course, a wide range of delicious food and drinks.
Even the youngest visitors will have more than enough fun at Dutch Chili Fest thanks to our special activities for kids.
HOT RODS & HOT SAUCE
Herald Coolbergen, founding father of Dutch Chili Fest, came up with the idea to dedicate a festival to the chili pepper during a visit to a rock festival in 2012: “There were hot rods on display and hamburgers for sale. Hot sauce couldn’t be missing then, of course, I decided.”
It marks the start of Dutch Chili Fest. In just under three months, the first edition is a reality. “It soon became apparent that many more people were involved with chilies in their spare time or professionally. I brought those people together.”
After 5 successful editions, Herald is handing over the baton in 2017 to Leo Hoeksema. He can combine his two biggest passions with Dutch Chili Fest: music & (spicy) food! In 2022 he expands the team with veterans Bas van Baal and Stefan School.
